Editing images with Magic Edit
Magic Edit is the prompt-based image editor in PrismPoster. You give it an image and a written instruction, and it makes the change: inpaint, outpaint, retouch, restyle, upscale, background removal, object removal, or OCR. Every edit is tracked in a before/after history so you can compare versions and step back. Because Magic Edit changes an existing image rather than creating one from scratch, exports from it carry the "AI-enhanced" label instead of "AI-generated." You can send an image straight from Image Studio, or upload your own to edit.
What can Magic Edit do?
Magic Edit covers the common editing jobs in one place:
- Inpaint — replace or repair part of an image while keeping the rest.
- Outpaint — extend the image beyond its original borders.
- Retouch — clean up and refine details.
- Restyle — change the visual style while keeping the composition.
- Upscale — increase resolution and sharpness.
- Background removal — isolate the subject from its background.
- Object removal — take an unwanted element out of the frame.
- OCR — read text out of an image.
Each is prompt-driven, so you describe the change in words and run it.
How does the before/after history work?
Every edit you run is recorded as a step, so you can compare the before and after and roll back if a change isn't right. This means you can experiment — try a restyle, then an upscale — without losing your earlier versions. The history keeps each stage of the edit connected to the original image in your Library.
Why are my edits labelled "AI-enhanced"?
Anything produced in Magic Edit is an edit of an existing image, so its export carries the "AI-enhanced" label rather than "AI-generated with PrismPoster." Both labels are part of PrismPoster's provenance system: a visible label plus an always-on machine-readable mark embedded in the file. The label reflects what actually happened to the image. For the full distinction, see generated vs enhanced.
How do I get an image into Magic Edit?
Send a generated image over from Image Studio, or upload an image you already have. Once it's loaded, pick the edit you want, write your instruction, and run it. When you're happy, export it — Magic Edit results follow the same labelled export flow as everything else. See previews and exports for the export options.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Magic Edit cost credits?
Yes. Magic Edit draws from the same shared credit pool as every other studio. Different edits have different costs; see the credit costs by type article for the breakdown.
Can I undo a Magic Edit?
Yes. Every edit is kept in a before/after history, so you can compare versions and step back to an earlier state. Your original image stays intact in the Library.
Will a Magic Edit export say "AI-generated" or "AI-enhanced"?
It says "AI-enhanced," because Magic Edit modifies an existing image. Newly generated images from Image Studio carry "AI-generated with PrismPoster." Both include an embedded machine-readable provenance mark on every plan.
