WHY THIS ONE

Fix messy auto-generated captions in seconds

Auto-transcription outputs often include broken HTML tags, bracketed audio cues like [Applause], and drifting synchronization.

HTML & Styling Tag Stripper

Removes all inline font colors, italic tags, and malformed HTML tags that crash video players and editing software.

Sequence Re-indexing

Rebuilds sequence indices from 1 to N after deleting blocks, preventing Premiere and DaVinci import errors.

Millisecond Timecode Shifter

Offset all subtitle timestamps forward or backward by exact milliseconds to fix audio/video sync drift.

PAST THE PAGE

Put the cleaned captions on your video

The timeline editor imports SRT and WebVTT files in its Captions panel, so the cues you cleaned here land on the video already timed.

  • Pick a caption style and an animation; the timing you fixed here stays as it is.
  • Edit any cue in place on the timeline, or find and replace across all of them.
  • In many countries a new account gets 200 free starter credits, no card. Unused starter credits expire 24 hours after they are granted.

This subtitle cleaner is free with zero upload.

QUESTIONS

SRT subtitles & formatting, answered

Is the caption cleaner free?

Yes, with no account. The text is parsed and rewritten in your browser.

Which tags and cues get removed?

Inline HTML such as b, i, u and font color, plus bracketed sound cues like [Music] and (applause). Each is a separate switch, so you can keep italics while dropping the audio descriptions.

How do I fix subtitles that are out of sync?

Enter a timecode shift in milliseconds: +500 moves every cue half a second later, −200 pulls them a fifth of a second earlier. It applies to all timestamps at once, which is what a constant offset needs.

Are my subtitles uploaded?

No. Everything — the upload, the cleaning, the download — happens on your device. Unreleased scripts and interview transcripts stay with you.

Does it handle WebVTT as well as SRT?

Yes — paste or upload either. Cue timing in both formats is parsed, and the cleaned result downloads as SRT, which every editor and player accepts.
