Credit costs by generation type
Different generation types cost different amounts of credits, and they all draw from one shared pool. As a rule: images cost a moderate amount, music sits in the middle, video costs the most, and edits vary by what they do. Video scales with both resolution and length — a longer 4K clip costs more than a short 720p one. This article shows the live, exact cost table further down the page, and the same numbers appear on /pricing. Use the qualitative guide below to plan, then check the live table before you generate.
What costs the least?
Images and quick edits. Generating an image is the cheapest media you can make here, and a smart crop or a light retouch costs even less — so iterating on visuals is light on your balance.
What do images cost?
Images cost a moderate amount — far less than video. This covers text-to-image in the Image Studio with cinema modes, camera treatment, and @tag reference images. Editing an existing image in Magic Edit (inpaint, outpaint, retouch, restyle, upscale, background removal, object removal, OCR) is a separate cost and varies by the operation.
What does video cost?
Video costs the most, and the price scales with resolution and length. A short clip at a lower resolution is cheaper than a long clip at a higher one. Available resolutions are 480p, 720p, and 1080p on SeeDance 2.0 Mini, plus 4K on Gemini Omni Flash — see video resolutions for the details. Video is not on the Free plan; it unlocks on the Creator plan and above (see plans compared).
How do music and edits compare?
Music generation in the Music Studio sits in the middle of the range and depends on the operation — generating a track, extending it, transforming it, or converting to WAV each have their own cost. Magic Edit operations also vary; a quick retouch is not the same as an upscale. The live table on this page lists every type so you can compare before committing credits.
Where is the exact, current table?
The exact per-generation numbers are rendered live on this page and on /pricing, so they are always current. We deliberately do not freeze them into article prose, because the video ladder in particular changes with resolution and length. Always trust the live table over any number you remember.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does video cost more than images?
Video is far more compute-intensive to generate, and the cost grows with resolution and clip length. A 4K clip costs more than a 1080p clip, and a longer clip costs more than a shorter one at the same resolution.
Where do I find the exact credit cost for a 4K video?
On the live table on this page and on /pricing. Both pull from the same source, so the number you see there is the one you will be charged.
Does editing an image cost the same as generating one?
No. Magic Edit operations have their own costs that vary by what the edit does — an upscale is not priced like a quick retouch. Check the live table for each operation.
