I can't see the AI badge on my export — is it still there?
If you can't spot the AI label on an export, don't worry — the provenance is always there. Every file PrismPoster exports carries both a visible AI label and an always-on machine-readable provenance mark embedded inside the file, on every plan, including Free. The visible badge reads "AI-generated with PrismPoster" (or "AI-enhanced" for edits). The embedded mark lives in the file's metadata even when you don't see a badge on screen. Here is where each one appears and how to check it.
Where does the visible AI label appear?
The visible label is rendered into the export so the viewer can see it. On images it appears on the exported file; on video and audio it travels with the clip. The wording depends on what you made:
- "AI-generated with PrismPoster" for fully generated images, video, and music.
- "AI-enhanced" for content that started from your own media and was edited — see generated vs enhanced.
If the badge looks subtle in a thumbnail, open the full export — it is part of the rendered file, not a preview overlay.
Where is the embedded provenance metadata?
Even with no badge in view, an always-on machine-readable mark is written into the file itself. It is embedded across standard metadata fields:
- Images — IPTC, XMP, and EXIF fields.
- Video and audio — FFmpeg metadata, plus ID3 tags for audio.
- Stored files — R2 object headers.
This mark is never gated by plan tier. You can inspect it with any tool that reads file metadata. See provenance metadata for the full field list and how to read it.
Why is the label always on, even on Free?
PrismPoster aligns with the EU AI Act, Article 50. The visible label maps to the Article 50(4) transparency disclosure for AI and deepfake content; the always-on machine mark maps to Article 50(2). Both are mandatory on every export and cannot be turned off — that is by design, not a setting you've missed. Read why content is labelled for the reasoning.
Note that this is metadata-based provenance plus a visible label. PrismPoster does not yet add a cryptographic C2PA Content Credentials signature.
What if the metadata seems to have been stripped?
Some third-party platforms re-encode uploads and may strip embedded metadata when you post elsewhere. That happens after the file leaves PrismPoster and is outside our control — the export you download from the Library always carries both the visible label and the embedded mark. If your downloaded original is genuinely missing both, contact support with the file and its timestamp.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I remove or hide the AI label?
No. The visible label and the embedded provenance mark are mandatory on every export, on every plan, to meet EU AI Act Article 50. They cannot be turned off.
I don't see a badge — was it not added?
It was added. Open the full-size export rather than a thumbnail, and check the file's metadata for the embedded mark. Both are always written into the file.
Does PrismPoster use C2PA Content Credentials?
Not yet. Provenance is embedded metadata (IPTC, XMP, EXIF, FFmpeg, ID3, R2 headers) plus a visible label. Cryptographic C2PA signing is not implemented.
Why does the label say "AI-enhanced" instead of "AI-generated"?
"AI-enhanced" appears when you edited your own media rather than generating it from scratch. See generated vs enhanced.
